In questi ultimi mesi con l'introduzione della nuova interfaccia di facebook, ci sono state moltissime discussioni a riguardo. Mi sono purtroppo accorto anche io (basta leggere gli innumerevoli status) che la maggior parte dei nostri amici non condivide la nuova versione.
Ecco allora che interviene il CEO di facebook in persona, Mark Zuckerberg per cercare di quietare un po' le acque:

"After months of hard work, we're at a point where almost all 100 million people around the world on Facebook are using the new design. As we continue to roll this out, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what we've built and why I think it's an important step for us.

Facebook's mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected. In the last four years, we've built new products that help people share more, such as photos, videos, groups, events, Wall posts, status updates and so on.

As people share more, sometimes we need to change the site to accommodate how much information people are posting. Back in 2006 we launched News Feed, which brought all of the most recent and interesting activity from the people you care about right to your home page. Similarly, the new Facebook design replaces all the big boxes on profiles and brings all of your friends' most recent and interesting activity to front and center.

We realize that change can be difficult though. Many people disliked News Feed at first because it changed their home page and how they shared information. Now it's one of the most important parts of Facebook. We think the new design can have the same effect.

With this release, we've worked harder to get more feedback about what we can improve. Starting in March, we created a Page where we gave updates on the changes we were considering and more than 150,000 people joined and participated. We also wanted to give people a chance to try out the new design before launching it for everyone. More than 40 million people tried it out and 30 million continued using it.

It's tempting to say that we should just support both designs, but this isn't as simple as it sounds. Supporting two versions is a huge amount of work for our small team, and it would mean that going forward we would have to build everything twice. If we did that then neither version would get our full attention.

That said, Facebook is a work in progress. We constantly try to improve things and we understand that our work isn't perfect. We appreciate the thousands of you who have written in to give us feedback. Even if you're joining a group to express things you don't like about the new design, you're giving us important feedback and you're sharing your voice, which is what Facebook is all about.

Thanks for all of your support as we work together to make Facebook better and give everyone around the world a new way to connect and share. The active community on Facebook makes it possible for us to build new things and make them great, and that is why Facebook has been successful so far."

Nuova barra Applicazioni!

Molti dicono che l'interfaccia di facebook sta sempre piu'assomigliando a quella di Windows? spero di no! :P ecco un ulteriore aggiornamento alla tanto discussa nuova interfaccia: adesso la barra della Applicazioni e'stata integrata in basso con la barra Chat, mentre in alto il caro buon vecchio tasto HOME (che e'SEMPRE stato a sinistra) e'stato spostato a destra, e viceversa al suo posto compare il nostro nome.
Tutti questi leggeri cambiamenti non solo stanno facendo impazzire gli utenti, ma anche gli sviluppatori di Applicazioni, che si trovano a dover modificare le loro applicazioni di conseguenza. Personalmente trovo molto comodo la nuova posizione delle Appplicazioni, e voi?

La voce degli utenti: "Vogliamo il vecchio facebook!"

In questi ultime settimane, sarete stati sicuramente invitati a gruppi come Petition Against the "New Facebook" o I Hate the new facebook che hanno raggiunto numeri come quasi piu' di un milione di utenti, segno dell'evidente malcontento generale causato da questo imposto ma non improvviso (la nuova interfaccia era stata pre-annunciata da tempo) cambiamento da parte di facebook. Come molti non sapranno, qualcosa di simile era gia'successo circa un paio di anni fa (esattamente il 5 Settembre 2006) quando furono introddotte le tanto amate e rivoluzionarie "News Feed", ma che al tempo ricevettero lo stesso trattamento di odio e rifiuto, sempre per i soliti motivi di violazione privacy e quant'altro. Questo cosa mi fa pensare? che probabilmente e'solo questione di tempo da parte degli utenti, di "abituarsi" alla nuova interfaccia. Io personalmente la trovo funzionale, non certo perfetta (ci sono 1paio di cose che cambierei) ma di sicuro un passo avanti per rendere facebook ancora piu' facile ed intuitivo da utilizzare... che dite?

FriendSync: un applicazione per il vostro iPhone!

Avete gia' un bel iPhone? (e prima o poi penso che lo prendero'anche io..) ecco un'applicazione per il vostro cellulare preferito che vi permettera' di sincronizzare tutti i vostri contatti con la loro foto del profilo di facebook!
Per adesso ci sono ancora alcuni bug, ma i produttori assicurano di risolverli bene... speriamo bene! :) che aspettate allora, scaricatevi FriendSync!

Gifts da 1 milione di dollari!

Avete presente quelle specie di iconcine chiamate Gift che facebook vende a circa $1 dollaro da regalare ai vostri amici? Secondo Lightspeed Venture Partners, ne sono state vendute in media qualcosa come $15 millioni di dollari! (fino a Gennaio 2008). E per quest'anno si calcola che la vendita arrivera' a circa $35 millioni di dollari! WOW altro che regalini! voi ne avete mai regalati? (il primo facebook ve lo da gratis;) o usate piu'facilmente applicazioni come Free Gifts? :D

Che vi piaccia o no, la nuova interfaccia x tutti! :P

Il lancio "ufficiale" della nuova interfaccia e' ormai imminente. Nonostante sia stato solo il 35% degli utenti facebook ad utilizzarla (fonti Comcast) e' arrivato a tutti gli "old facebook" utenti il seguente messaggio, che annuncia il passaggio definitivo... anche voi siete d'accordo? :P
